EOE stands for Eosinophilic Esophagitis, yeah I can’t say it either πŸ˜‰

Last June, actually Fathers Day, I choked on a piece of steak and to make a long story short, I was diagnosised with EOE. I had no idea what that was and I had never even heard of it. But since then, I have learned more and more and I have had 4 (tomorrow 5) EGDs. Since the last one in October, I have been on a Gluten and Dairy free diet. EOE is an allergy to certain foods, so we are trying an elimination diet.

So hopefully tomorrow, after my next EGD, this elimination diet worked and my tests look better. But then again, I may have another elimination added to my diet.

This gluten and dairy free diet, has been tough, not only for me but for my family as well. we’ve made some big changes, but they have all been so supportive and working on this right along with me! This is something I am forever grateful for, our family is a team and we got each others back. Missing some of my favorites like pizza, lasagna and ice cream makes me sad…but it really could be much worse and I am so thankful my family is standing right next to me!

I will keep you updated as I learn more. But to start if you’re interested, check this out:

Have a blessed weekend,

Mom Tip #111

AMAZON PRIME!! This mom STRONGLY suggests getting Amazon Prime! This is probably my most important mom tip πŸ˜‰

Seriously, I use Prime every week, every day! I know the price has gone up this year to $119. Which is alot upfront, but in the long run, this has saved me $ and reduced my stress! For example; last week my daughter joined the ski club, I ordered her a ski coat and snowpants and with 2 day shipping she had it in time! WE had no time last week to go shopping for a new coat and snow pants, Prime saved the day πŸ™‚

I use the free, 2 day shipping for birthday parties scheduled last minute, school functions and/or whatever else pops up during the week! Or if I just don’t have an extra minute to get to the store and buy something (which happens often), I Prime it! It was also nice, this past Christmas season, I added a family members address and it was delivered right to them and wrapped as a gift!

We also use it for our family, watching TV. i already had Prime and so we went down to basic cable, and have Netflix and Prime for our shows/movies and it is so much cheaper!

Here are a few of our Favorites:

  • Spongebob episodes
  • Pete the Cat episodes
  • Wild Kratts
  • American Pickers
  • Jack Ryan
  • Homecoming
  • And so many other good tv series and movies….they even have one of my favorites – The Man in the Moon

New Year and New Goals 2019

Happy New Year friends! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and New Years!

So last year I made some pretty big goals, well not all big goals but just a lot of goals. Now looking back, I probably shouldn’t have made such high expectations. Even though I wanted to accomplish them all, of course, but I didn’t quite make it and that’s okay! I’ll keep trying πŸ™‚ However, I did reach a few of them and I provided some thoughts below.

Below are my goals from last year and where I ended up:

My ultimate New Year Goals (2018):

  • Drink more water –  start with an additional 24 oz a day πŸ‘πŸ»>>> got this one! I continue to try to drink more and more, it helps when I have a water bottle always in my car and by my bed, for me this helps.
  • Exercise – move around more. A few times a day, Get up and go for a quick walk through the halls at work. πŸ‘ŽπŸ»>>>Since I work at home now, I probably move less :/ NEED to continue to work on this!
  • Expose more people to Norwex (aka – sell more Norwex  ) πŸ‘ŽπŸ»
  • Try 1 New recipe a month πŸ‘πŸ»
  • Get to work on time, actually a few minutes before I’m expectedπŸ‘πŸ» >>>Since I work at Home, this is something I have accomplished πŸ˜‰
  • Get the house more organized – focus on basement first; starting with the kids school work and putting in their files/boxes. πŸ‘ŽπŸ»
  • Become more efficient (kind of goes hand in hand with #3) because my house will be so organized, I’ll be more efficient πŸ‘ŽπŸ»
  • Read devotions or be in His Word every day >>> Goal for 2019! This is my TOP priority!πŸ‘ŠπŸ»
  • Have a prayer list and truly pray for those that are on it (I always say I’ll pray for you and I want to remember to do it!) Create a list on my phone (for on the go) and then later write in my notebook at home. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»>>> I started this and completed it for a few months, but then honestly my list got so long so fast, I became overwhelmed.
  • Learn more about anxiety and how my husband and I can best support our daughter and how to care for the whole family through this. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ»>>> no real updates on this either. We have figured that “home time” is very important to her and that our whole family being together is important to her and our other 2 kiddos as well, so this is something we are more aware of.

First and foremost, my top goal is to read devotions every day! Actually, this so important to me, that right now, its my only goal! I have to put God first in my life and I don’t honestly know if I do that EVERY single day and I feel like that’s not right. I want my children to be in God’s word, I need be an example for them too.

This what I’m starting with:

Here Are a Few of my Favorite Things

Hi friends! I have a few favorite products I have discovered over the years, that I wanted to share with you! Some are time savers, life savers or money savers $$ πŸ™‚

I know for me, if I don’t hear from someone I trust that they like a product, I’m not very likely to spend the money on it (yes, I am cheap….and Dutch πŸ˜‰ )

So please check out my list below:
  1. Crystal Light Energy Drink – life saver! This is how I start my day and Some days I even have 2 of these drinks. And get this – no calories!!
  3. Certain Dry Deodorant
  4. This has been a life saver for me and my um…armpits! Yes, I have an issue with underarm skinkiness 😦 You have to apply at night and do not shave beforehand, it might sting a little.
  5. Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream – love it for my curly hair!
  6. Jergens Wet Skin (shower Moisturizer)
  7. This Moisturizer saves time and it WORKS! I hate the feeling of applying lotion after the shower and then waiting for it to absorb, this shower moisturizer has solved that problem. Now its not a deep moisturizer but so far this winter it has worked well for my skin.
  8. Norwex Body Balm – another skin saver! I use at night before bed, on my feet, especially my heels and it feels great!
  9.  Norwex Laundry Detergent
    • Total Life saver!! check out these pics of my placemat that had ink on it:
AFTER: I  had just received my Norwex laundry detergent that week and thought I’d give it try – I am so happy i did! Look the ink came out, with just another cycle in the washing machine and my Norwex detergent!

Kids Body Aches

We have 3 kids, 2 of which play a lot of basketball! Our whole family loves basketball πŸ€But this summer just being active outside and then when the girls started playing on their basketball leagues this fall, they were complaining of soar heels. So we started giving them ibuprofen after practicing or before a game, but I hated to just keep giving them medicine.

So I did some research and sounds like this is pretty common in 6-12 year old. I found some stretches they could do and that resting and/or icing helps as well. However, one thing I have tried for them is the good, ole’ Epsom salt soak. I found this Epsom salt specifically forΒ  aches and pains, my girls tried it and said it worked GREAT! We soak at least once a week, especially after a Saturday full of basketball games.

Found great info on Healthline:Β Healthline – more info on heel pain

**And please be cautious that heel pain can be something more serious, such as a fracture, Achilles tendinitis, Plantar fasciitis and something else. Please always refer to your child’s healthcare provider for direction on your child’s health. (Please know that I am NOT a professional and I am just sharing, a simple suggestion, that worked for our family. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any question you may have regarding a medical condition.)

One quote I love from this article onΒ “As children grow, they may encounter various pains and strains. It’s your job as a parent to encourage rest, healing, and recovery”.

I added the Amazon link below to purchase these Epsom salts:

Dr Teal’s Therapeutic Solutions Pure Epsom Salt Soaking Solution 6 Lb Bag

Dr Teals have some other great Epsom salts, however I have not had the chance to try them yet, however I am anxious to try the Eucalyptus and Lavender..and it’ll be just for me πŸ˜‰

Dr Teal’s Epsom Salt Soaking Solution, Eucalyptus and Lavender, 2 Count – 3lb Bags, 6lbs Total

October 31st (otherwise known as Halloween)

So over the years Halloween, has become my least favorite “holiday”. I’m not sure why, I used to love dressing my kids up in costumes and getting FREE candy! But the more I seeΒ  Halloween decorations, it feels like it just gets more “evil like” every year and I am not into that.

So below are some options to try and maybe start a new family tradition:

  1. Movie Night – check these out! some for the real young ones and some for your older kiddos. And if you are looking for even cheaper, head to your local library and find them there.

2. Hotel – this really only works well when the 31st falls on a weekend, but go to a hotel for the night that has a pool or water park.

3. Visit a pumpkin patch, pick up a pizza, then go home and carve the pumpkins out.

4. Have a family game night! This is defiantly a budget friendly option $$$

5. Camp out and tell scary stories! Vote on whose was the scariest!

Here is a link to a post about tips on how to tell the scariest (of course, know your audience and if there are young kids, keep it G rated…just a suggestion for your future self πŸ˜‰Β  Trust me, you’ll thank me later!

6. Visit an orchard – many will have specials for Halloween night, that don’t require dressing up. Check you local orchards and farms.Β

7. Check out your local churches! There are great opportunities to take advantage of a fun, clean environment with lots of great activities! Typically they have a snacks or even a free dinner – talk about budget friendly! πŸ™‚ $$$

7. My favorite – have a date night and leave the planning to the babysitter πŸ˜‰

Have a blessed week friend! No matter what you decide to do this week, look for the blessing!
