Deliverance

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10

My Prayer: Lord, you alone know the extent of the troubles I face. You know when I’m tired, defeated, and feel like giving up. Rush in with your faithful love and save me You, God, are stronger than my fiercest enemies. Lift me up, God, you’re all I have. In your name I pray, amen!

This is from a neat little devotional I found at a center aisle at Walmart somewhere in central FL. I’m slowly making my way through it, but the devotionals are short with scriptures, prayer and a thought provoking question to make you think a little deeper.

Have a blessed day, Christy Jo

Flags that Could Signal a Behavior Disorder

www.parents.com/health/mental/pink-flags-that-could-signal-a-behavioral-or-emotional-disorder-in-your-child

Mental Health is so important and this year more than ever I learned how much mental illness or disorders can affect our children. Genetics plays a role in the mental health of our children, as do other factors such as stress, abuse or a traumatic event. If one of these occurs it can trigger a mental health illness (or crisis) who has an inherited susceptibility to it. for more information around Mental Health check out: WebMD

And if you or someone you know EVER, EVER has a Suicidal Thought tell someone, seek help or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline @ 800-273-8255, they are open 24 hours a day, they also have a newer chat function.

Scripture

Everywhere I turn I see these messages about “turning to scripture” or “we need to be in the Bible”! I have never seen this message so much as I have lately! Anyone else? I feel like God is truly speaking to me because that’s the message I need to see/hear to have a Hope that only God can provide!

I become so Discouraged looking at our country today and all the Evil that surrounds us! God is speaking to me “be in scripture” ! And I am sharing that message and speaking to you – BE IN SCRIPTURE! Get into God’s word, this is our ONLY truth in today’s society and the the only Truth we can trust!

This was an email; I received today from Roy Graham speaking about a devotional from his father Franklin Graham and the importance of the Bible and being in Scripture:
“That’s why it’s my fervent hope and prayer that we will have a resurgence of interest and esteem for God’s Word. Any renewal or revival movement must have the Bible as the centerpiece, for ‘faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ’ (Romans 10:17, ESV). God saves us from sin, and He does so as the truth of God’s Word is clearly proclaimed. – Roy Graham

If you need some guidance – check out this Podcast “The Bible Recap” it takes you through the whole Bible in one year for just a few minutes a day. I’m loving it and it’s so simple and short that I can do it on a quick break at work or driving the kiddos to school. You can also go deeper in it if you’d like, they have a few different plans.

I pray you have time today to be in the Scripture, even if it’s for a few minutes, try and make this priority and I will too 🙏🏼 🤟🏼 Blessings, Christy Jo

Taking Care of YOU – Self Care

yeah YOU!! How do you take care of yourself? Do you take care of yourself? I’ll be honest, I don’t. I just don’t. I do not do much for just myself and if I do, it usually has something to benefit those around me. I’m 37, oh wait 38 years old, lol and I am just starting to learn to do something, just a little something for myself. I have had to really look and ask myself what I like/enjoy because over the years of having children, being married, being a leader,I focused on what others needed.

What has worked for me? I set a reminder to do some type of self care each day, it has really helped. I only “schedule” like 5 minutes for this because this has been a struggle for me! I always felt like as a working mom, if I wasn’t working then I needed to be with my kids (hello mom guilt) 😥So my hubby and I rarely go on dates, in that case, we have never even taken a vacation just the 2 of us! So self care is something I don’t do and I have noticed that 5 minutes in prayer, deep breathing or actually watching something I like to watch, just helps give me a little boost! try it and let me know how it helps you!

Self -Care Ideas from Hollis Co – please check these out! And even better, they are all FREE!

Have blessed Friday! Remember schedule just a few minutes of self care this weekend, Christy Jo 🤟🏼

IT’S SUMMERTIME 2020

Lets not forget that it is SUMMER!! what fun things do you have planned for the summer? anything? okay, I do not feel like it is summer and we continue to have this Covid cloud over us, like we all want to go out and have a summer party but can’t . . . Well, shouldn’t because of the spread of Covid.

I’m trying to not be discouraged, because it is SUMMER! and Summer has always just been a time to spend with family and enjoy the “free” schedule. being a Working Mom, it has always still been a little stressful because I am working all day and my kiddos kind of have to fend for themselves…I mean not really, they are well taken care of but it’s just harder. unfortunately they are on technology most of the day, much to my despise 😦 but that is another topic for another day…back to SUMMER 🙂

This Summer will be different, because so many things are closed like zoos, petting zoo, some beaches, parks, trampoline parks, and many more that keep our kiddos active and things we would typically do in the summer.

this summer will be a little more low key…but is that so bad?? I CHOOSE not be discouraged because I can’t it – this summer WILL BE DIFFERENT! and that’s okay and we’ll have to adjust – adjust our train of thought and adjust the attitude!

3 THINGS I WILL BE GRATEFUL DURING THIS SEASON:

  • 1. My faith in God, the only thing truly constant
  • 2. My health and my family’s health
  • 3. The summer SEASON, even if it is different

Check out the link (click the picture) below for some ideas to do with the family from the Parents magazine:

My favorite:

Construct a backyard obstacle course with hula hoops, jump ropes, sticks, stones, hoses, and other materials from around the house. Your kids can take turns completing it—and the person with the fastest time wins a prize!

We’ve done this obstacle course before and the kids are great at setting it up themselves! Not only an active idea but also creative too 👍🏼

This is hard, I know, let’s try to help one another to be encouraged! We’re all in this together! Take care, Christy Jo 🤟🏼

CDC – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Through this Pandemic I have struggled with the News – I love to watch the morning news, but feel overwhelmed from the whole focus on Covid19 (and some personal opinions I don’t care for from the anchors) I want the FACTS! Not what everyone on the news channel thinks about what is happening, I don;t really care about their opinion, I want the NEWS. And we all know that news channels strive for the most viewers and will talk about what the audience wants to hear, let me clarify the Majority of the audience. If you are not part of that Majority then, you;ll hear a whole bunch of crap you don’t want to hear or agree with!

so I stopped watching the news in the morning, I had to stop! not only because every segment they reported on was very much falsified but also because it was so doom and gloom. Yes, I know we are in a Pandemic and this is awful, it truly is. However, there are some good things happening, there are! For instance; what about the people that have recovered from Covid19 or all the people helping and donating $, food, etc. and our country coming together to help others (yes this is happening in some parts of the country) 🙂 There is good out there, lets share that too!

Anyways, back to the Facts! I want the facts remember?! For the facts I went to the CDC website, these are up to date facts about symptoms, testing, traveling, how to stay healthy and keep others healthy, etc. – so much reliable information. These are the facts! They have a dedicated page to Covid19/Coronavirus Disease 2019 with a TON of helpful information!

Please take a minute to check it out! you can also sign up for an email for regular updates.

One area I found really helpful is that they have this whole section about our daily life and a specific link on “Stress and Coping”.

I hope you found this helpful – in a world of news overload it feels good to go to the facts and get the info I want.

Take care and stay healthy! Blessings, Christy Jo

Journaling for the Whole Family

“Kids have a lot of big emotions and sometimes struggle with how to express them. Of course, as parents it’s our job to listen and be supportive, but sometimes kids need another way to blow off that emotional steam

Parenting Magazine

Check out: Guided Journals for Kids

Journaling has so many benefits:

  • Anxiety reducer
  • Provides Clarity
  • Provides Focus
  • Peace of mind
  • Easier way to communicate
  • Renewed mental energy
  • inspiration

I found some amazing products @ ErinCondren website, so many cool products to encourage our kids and ourselves to journal more! They have fun pens, markers, post-it notes, stickers, book marks, etc. You have to check it out, they have something for everyone!

I also love the Christian Planner team – check out what they have and how they started, their story is pretty cool:

The Christian Planner: HOW WE STARTED

Victor Delacruz is the creator of The Christian Planner. After 4 years of military service, Victor moved to Manhattan to attend graduate school at NYU, and also, to chase his dreams as a jazz musician. The pressures of the Big Apple quickly got to him and depression soon followed. The anxiety caused by the pressure to be successful was suffocating. He was lost. Victor created the Christian Planner as a way to schedule time with God in his own routine. He quickly realized that including Christ in his daily goal-setting, planning and journaling routine made him more productive, more focused and less prone to stress and anxiety. He decided to start Christian Planner to help other Christians put Christ at the center of their daily routines and experience the same benefits he did.

Try and set some time aside to journal for a few minutes and share the experience with those around you! Blessings, Christy Jo

Bye Bye Norwex

Happy Friday everyone! Not sure about you, but I am starting the day with a grateful heart and beyond thankful that I see the SUN!! I’m working today but can see the sun through m office window and just want to sit in the sun and cry… okay anyways why I am writing today.

Unfortunately, I will no longer be a Norwex consultant, therefore not selling any more Norwex products. I have loved getting to know these products but financially I can’t keep it up anymore.

So I have a few products left (that I want to sell) and will still be using the product just not selling. I defiantly have some Norwex staples in my home that I LOVE!

What changes are you making during this Pandemic? What have you learned? Honestly, Positive or negative, we will not be the same after this is all over and I pray for you and that you will make Positive changes!

Lord, be with each one of us and grant us what we may stand in need of!

Times of Uncertainty

Anxiety! Anxiety, Stress, Worry – these levels are through the roof right now for so many of us! Worry about if we’ll have enough food, enough money for that food, who will get the food, what will happen if I test positive for Covid-19, will I still have a job, etc, etc etc. We ALL have some type of worry – whether it is large or small, we all have worries. But what we don’t all have, is the comfort of Jesus Christ and the belief in Him! the belief that whatever happens, He’s got this! He is in Control!

Throughout the Bible God speaks on anxiety more than once! He LOVES us and he will take care of us! However, we need to trust Him and tell Him/Give Him our fears and worries. Cast your cares upon Him!

Matthew 6:25-27  “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”

Psalm 55:22  Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved

2 Thessalonians 3:16  Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Psalm 23:4  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

I hope and pray you all are somehow blessed through this uncertain time, Christy Jo xoxo

Confidence

4 ways to build your Child’s Confidence

  • Be Realistic
  • Dig Deeper
  • Watch Your Words
  • Focus on Personal Growth

Confidence is such an important part of who we are and having confidence as a kid sets us up for the rest of our lives. If we have that strong confidence as a kid, we build a platform and as we grow, it can get beat down or we continue to build upon it. But if you have something as a base, that’s the first step! And as parents, its our responsibly to help instill this in our kids. Attached to this blog are a few articles that may help you along the way 🙂

  • CONFIDENCE is a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.
  • SELF – CONFIDENCE is a feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities, and judgment

Smashing Cancer

This 17-year-old; Henry Dai, celebrated his remission by destroying a replica of the tumor that once grew in his chest.

This a great article about determination and strength! Cancer is not always a story about physically beating or “smashing” cancer but it also includes emotional, mental and spiritual healing.

We wanted to signify the destruction of this evil he has been fighting

said David Hoogstra, MD, a doctor in the pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship program @ Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital

Shortly before the celebration, Henry and his parents met with Dr. Hoogstra to discuss the results of his recent PET scan.

He showed them two scans, side by side. In the one taken before treatment, the tumor appeared as an orange blob near his heart. In the one taken earlier this week, the tumor was gone.

So my good is my 3 kiddos (and hubby too ❤️) we had a nice Christmas with family and I am beyond blessed for what the Lord has blessed us with, HE is so good…ALL THE TIME!

Can’t wait for this New Year! I have to look back and see how I ended with my previous goals 🤔 but for some reason I have a feeling it is going to be a good year, I will make it a good year!

Children and Stress

March 28 – This article has a whole different meaning now because of the Covid-19 crisis happening – our kiddos are 13, 10 and 6 and they all process what’s going on in our world a little differently but one thing is consistent and that is they all FEEL the stress and anxiety.

Crock Pot Chicken Noodle Soup (another “dump and go” recipe)

This recipe is from a friend that brought our family a huge batch when my dad was in Hospice and it was a hit!

What I love about this soup recipe is that it is for the crockpot and being a working mom, I absolutely LOVE my crockpot!🥣👍🏻 Another added bonus, everyone in the family likes it (rarely happens :/ )

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of cream of chicken soup

  • 1 package of 90 second Chicken flavored rice ( I like the Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice Roasted Chicken)

  • 1 box of Mrs. Grass extra noodle soup (use both sides of noodles and flavoring)

  • 2 cups of chicken ( I just use 2 cans of canned, cooked chicken) or if I have leftover chicken from earlier in the week, I chop that up too.

  • 2 cans of carrots

  • some chopped onion

Put all in the crockpot, stir, add 10 cups of water and stir again. Then just wait for the yumminess of this delicious soup in 4 hours on high or most the time I use the 10 hours on low.

This is a great leftover for later in the week! Enjoy!

Chocolate/Oatmeal Energy Bites

This is a Gluten Free option when you use the Gluten Free option oats, which I see everywhere.

This Working, Blessed Mom

This is simple, chocolate go-to snack! And they are pretty healthy too, so that’s a bonus!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Oatmeal (dry)
  • 1/2 cup  peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (try mini chips)
  • 1/3 cup of honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Another option is to add 1/2 cup of flaxseed.

I will typically estimate how much of each ingredient and mixing together is the best part for my son 🙂

Mix all ingredients together. Roll into bite size balls, refrigerate and then enjoy! This little treat is a blessing in my day

CROCK POT DINNER – Potatoe Soup

This Working, Blessed Mom

oh yeah, another soup 😉 I love crockpot soups because most the time you dump the ingredients and go – dump and go – and that’s all I really have time for most days. And my family’s favorite about soup night is the fresh homemade bread, which they think is a miracle I can make and honestly I remove the frozen bread dough from the freezer, place in a grease loaf pan, let it rise and bake…. shhh…don’t tell them that, I like to be thought of as a miracle worker sometimes 😉

Another thing I try to take into consideration this time of year is our families schedules – we are a basketball family so this is a busy time of year, our girls both play on 2 teams, our son is “playing” his first year (he’s 6 so you know how they “play”) and then upon that; my…
