FAMILY BBQ IDEAS

Hello friends! The weekend is coming up and with warmer weather coming our way (hopefully) it may be BBQ/potluck/summer party or just a hangout with family, friends and neighbors kind of weekend!

Broccoli and Bacon Salad

Ingredients:

  1. 3 tsp sugar
  2. 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
  3. 2 tbsp. white vinegar
  4. 3-4 cups of Broccoli
    1. I use steamed broccoli I can put in the microwave and then quickly chop it up.
  5. 4-5 pieces of cooked bacon
    1. I cook bacon pretty often so I usually have some in the fridge. However, if I don’t I have used bacon bits before too (1/2 cup).
  6. 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  7. 1/2 cup of raisins
  8. 1/2 cup of red onion (finely chopped)
  • Mix the sugar, mayo and vinegar, together with a wisk.
  • In a separate bowl, mix everything else.
  • Take the sugar mix and pour over the broccoli mixture.
  • Chill in refrigerator.

Italian Pasta Salad

Ingredients:

  1. 1 box Tri-Colored Tortini Pasta
  2. 1 package cherry tomatoes
  3. 1 Orange, 1 Red and 1 Yellow chopped Peppers
  4. 1 Bottle of Italian Dressing ( I LOVE and ONLY use Olive Garden’s Italian Dressing)
  • Mix all together, chill for an hour or 2, and then ready to go!

Velveeta Salsa Dip

Ingredients:

  1. 1 lb (16 oz) of Velveeta
  2. 1 Cup of your favorite Salsa
  • Cut Velveeta into into cubes and mix with salsa.
  • Then you can microwave for about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. At this point I always mix in the crockpot and put on low. Stirring occasionally. once cheese melted I’ll switch to warm and put the whole crockpot out for the party. That way it stays melted and smooth for the next couple hours.

Fruit Kabobs

Ingredients:

  1. favorite fruit (melons, strawberries, raspberries and grapes work best) Cut into pieces that would fit well on a kabob stick
  2. 1 pkg. (8 oz.) Colby & Monterey Jack Cheese, cut into cubes
  • arrange fruit and cheese on the kabob stick (something the kiddos can help with)
  • this is an easy recipe that can be modified to your family’s favorite fruit and cheese
  • Also, a nice, clean and healthy option

TUNA SALAD 🍴

So total honesty friends – I did not care so much for this recipe :/ It was missing something, I don’t know if it needed salt, more onions or of course more mayo is always a good option… I maybe should have tried that.

But I researched a few other Tuna Salad recipes and here are a few add-in options that others had suggested: cream of mushroom soup, milk, bread crumbs and of course more cheese is always a good option 🙂

However, I’m still going to share this recipe because even though it maybe wasn’t great the first time, doesn’t mean it won’t turn out good the 2nd time. And just because I don’t like it, doesn’t mean you won’t😏

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. elbow macaroni
  • 3 cans of tuna (5oz.)
  • 3 hard boiled eggs
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp. celery seed
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. Cook macaroni, drain, rinse with cold water, and let cool completly.
  2. Boil your eggs, if you haven’t already.
  3. In a bowl, mix mayo, relish, celery seed, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
  4. Stir in the Tuna.
  5. Pour Mayo mixture over the cool pasta. Mix well.
  6. Add chopped eggs, onions and peas.

  8. Then enjoy for lunch or add as a side your burger cookout

Blessings! 😊

Broccoli & Bacon Salad

Hello beautiful people!

Have you ever had a time that you have to bring something to a potluck and have no idea what to bring?! So you jump on Pinterest for a few minutes or hour 🤨 get all these elaborate, awesome ideas and then can’t decide which one to do! I think that I want to do something fancy and impress everyone, but then again I don’t have much time, money or much in the house for that matter.

So this salad recipe is pretty simple (and looks fancy) and is a surprising favorite to many! And I think it is even pretty healthy too 🤔

I first tried it at a work potluck and was just trying it to be “polite” to the person who brought it and ended up loving it!

Now I bring it often and it is pretty simple to throw together! Of course, I did some tweaks to the recipe to make it even easier.
