Mom Tip #110 – School Prep โœ…โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“–โœ‚๏ธ

Start preparing your kids for school ahead of time, like more than the day before ๐Ÿ˜‰

All 3 of my kids have some type of anxiety around school (really who doesn’t?) so starting to prepare them (and reminders for me)ย is key for our family!

Here are some tips we use at our house:

  • Ready Checklist โœ… created a simple checklist for my girls, so they know what they need to do before they leave for school. (However, for my son this year, I’ll have to create one with pics, because he can’t read yet) I put it up on the door, just a very simple reminder…for them and me ๐Ÿ™‚
    • img_9577
  • Forms/Appointment – did you hand in all the forms and complete all the needed doctor appointments? Hair appointments? Medication refills that your child might have to take to school?
  • School Calendar – Once I have the final school calendar, I put all those dates into my home/work calendar.
    • I also ask for any days off from work I may need for special school occasions.
  • Lunch Notes ๐Ÿ“ this is something my mom would do just once in awhile and I loved it! it was just a nice reminder in the middle of the day that no matter what your mama is thinking, praying and will ALWAYS love you… no matter what happens at school!
    • here a few suggestions, I ordered from Amazon:
      • C.R. Gibson CN63-13645 Lunch Box Notes
      • Lunchbox Jokes: 100 fun Tear-Out Notes for Kids
      • Sprinkled Joy – Designer Lunchbox Notes – 2 packs

  • I hope and pray everyone has an awesome start to the school year and everything goes smooth ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  • Stay safe! Blessings ๐Ÿ’•

Update on my New Year Goals

Hmmm… so I am not doing as well as I would hope. I was excited with the new year and I think my expectations were too high for myself. Although I have done well on a few of them, I think the ones I am not doing so well on are the everyday activities I need to add and that includes changing my routine…which I am not so good with ๐Ÿ˜

So here is the breakdown on how my goals are going:

  1. Drink more water – not doing so well with this, although I have stopped the midmorning Coke and having my Chrystal Light Energy drinks.
  2. Exercise – I wasn’t feeling so well for awhile and was super tired (more than what I normally am) and just didn’t feel like moving, but I guess that’s when you should move the most, right?! I have been doing a few minutes of indoor biking, but I’d like to do more.
  3. Expose more people to Norwex – haven’t really worked on this one ๐Ÿคจ
  4. Try 1 new recipe a month – yeah!! this I have been accomplishing!! and it’s great because I have found some awesome recipes!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
  5. Get to work on time – Another one, I have been doing well at! Although this is hard, because when I leave the house in the morning, I know I could do one more thing to help out my hubby get the kids off, but he’s pretty awesome and I know he can handle it ๐Ÿ˜˜But being to work on time is important to me because I am trying to make a better impression on my boss, who I guess hasn’t been too impressed with me ๐Ÿค”
  6. Get the house more organized – I have taken a good step forward on this one, with my laundry update (earlier blog).ย  But I still have more ideas to help get more organized, so we’ll see when I get a chance to work on those.
  7. Become more efficient -becoming more organized, I will be more efficient, again more work on those 2 pieces. However,ย I started getting my groceries delivered! Woohoo, this is AWESOME!! A part of me does miss going to the grocery store and I still do some shopping at Aldi’s but I do most of the grocery shopping through Shipt, that goes to Meijer. It is so nice! More time for other things โœ…
  8. Read devotions or be in His word every day – I haven’t been making this happen EVERY DAY but more than what I was last year, so kind of accomplished.
  9. Have a prayer list and truly pray for those on it – this has been eye-opening! I can’t believe how many people their are to pray for! I do say it a lot “I’ll keep you in my prayers” and I have been writing them down and I feel good when I take time for that person/family.
  10. Learn more about Anxiety (for our Daughter) and our family – I have slowly been reading a book called “Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents” and it has been very insightful! I think we’re always going to keep learning, since this is something our daughter will struggle with for the rest of her life, but anything we can do to better support her; We’ll figure it out!

I will keep trying…I have to be better at prioritizing my time and what’s truly important! my overall goals of making this list is to get closer to God and help myself feel better, so I am a better person for my family. Again, I will keep trying…

Mom Tip #108

Another tip or suggestion I have for all you moms, or really anyone – have a good, organized laundry system! Otherwise, your laundry can take over your house ๐Ÿ˜ซ I always hate having laundry baskets sit around, then the clothes sit and get wrinkled and mornings are spent doing a deep search through the laundry baskets. Getting frustrated with this everyday, I decided I HAD to figure something else out!

My laundry is in the basement and nothing spectacular but I do have a long clothes line and huge table (which I am grateful for) and wanted to take advantage of. Before the table was just a pile of clean clothes, some folded and some not, random socks, underwear and whatever else I can’t find a spot for at the moment…in other words, it wasย a mess! ๐Ÿคฏ So I cleaned it up, donated 3/4 of the clothes and threw awayย a ton ofย junk! I took 5 laundry baskets (one for each person in our family)ย  and labeled them. I have a small area to fold and then I put in their basket. Therefore, we all know where to find our clothes and I do NOT bring any clothes baskets upstairs, where they end up all over the house andย cluttering up our rooms.

I’m hoping this goes well, I have tried other laundry “systems” or ideas and nothing seemed to really work for my family, my schedule and my space, so I’m excited, I have a good feeling about this! We spend so much time doing laundry, I want it to feel good!

“Don’t you just love those 12 seconds, your laundry is done” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Mom Tip #106

Okay, here it is…my weakness…my weakness is I LOVE to sleep!! So this next tip, I struggle with and that tip is getting up earlier than your family in the morning!

When I do (very rarely) the morning goes so much smoother and the day just seems to start better!

Every morning I get up about 5 minutes before my kids and I have no time, to myself, to just get a few little things done that make the morning less stressful; like letting the dogs out, getting my glass of orange juice and heck, just go to the bathroom! ๐Ÿ™„

Also, when I’m not rushing through the morning, my kids feel it too! They feel more prepared and less anxious ( which for my daughter with an anxiety disorder is very important!!) otherwise I’m yelling “5 minutes for the bus” “1 minute” “okay bus is here! Don’t forget your shoes” ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

This is something I’m going to work on…I have to work on! Like I said; for my daughter with anxiety; being prepared and not rushing through the morning and only having 10 minutes to get ready and eat breakfast does not work for her and then we have a whole another set of concerns on our hands! ๐Ÿ˜•

I can do this…right?! Right?! Right!!! I’ll keep you updated…

Mom Tip #102

So this goes along with #101, about being prepared, it is so important if you want the day/week to run smoothly, you have to be prepared (well, as prepared as you can be being a mom ๐Ÿ˜‰ img_5287

Along with preparing our family’s dinner menu, I also prepare lunches as much as possible.

My kids like a variety of foods, but they HAVE to have at least one fruit or veggie in their lunch and I like to clean them, bag them and store them in a clear container in the fridge. I also have one with yogurts,ย which is another staple in our lunches.

This helps lunch making go smoothly and even when you’re in a hurry or kids need a snack, they can get it themselves…yeah ๐Ÿ™‚
